Also check the other performance metrics. Jitter indirectly contributes to packet loss, which directly affects call quality; packet loss should be less than ~2-5%. MoS, ("Mean opinion score"), more broadly estimates overall call quality, on a scale from 1 to 5; it should be greater than ~4.0.
- green (< ~8 ms): connection can produce a constant flow of data; VoIP conversations should be of good quality
- yellow (~9-30 ms): connection is relatively unpredictable, but should nonetheless be able to sustain a constant flow of data; VoIP conversations should not be broken
- red (> ~30 ms): connection is too unpredictable to maintain a constant flow of data; VoIP conversations may be broken
